Kore Cares Training Initiatives

If you or a loved one needs in-home care, how important would it be that your care team had proper training? Did you know in the state of South Dakota there are only training requirements for in-home providers that have a DHS contract? The training requirements for providers with a DHS contract include 6 hours of training for caregivers a year. There are no training requirements for actual on-the-job skills. Due to low margins in this industry and a lack of available workforce, many providers provide the minimal necessary training.

Kore Cares Training Initiatives

At Kore Cares we have committed to investing in our team and going above and beyond the minimum requirements. Six staff members on our team are certified CPR instructors this allows us to offer CPR classes to not only our staff but also others interested in learning this valuable life skill.

We offer a CNA training program to staff who wish to enhance their skills. This training is not required in the home care industry but is helpful as more and more of our clients need hands-on personal care.

We have also purchased Teepa Snow dementia training and have committed to getting 90% of our staff through the training by the end of the year.

Training is a huge investment, especially for industries with high turnover rates. It can be hard to commit to this kind of investment. However, we feel it is so necessary for both employee and client satisfaction.
