Bringing Knowledge and Compassion Together: Dementia Dialogues® Training in Yankton
Kore Cares was honored to host the Dementia Dialogues® training this week in Yankton—a powerful, two-day learning opportunity focused on understanding and improving care for individuals living with dementia. We are deeply grateful to all those who attended, contributed, and committed their time to growing their knowledge and compassion.
Held at the Yankton Fire Department Station #2, the training brought together a dedicated group of professionals from various backgrounds. Their engagement, curiosity, and openness to learning reminded us just how essential community-wide education is when it comes to dementia care.
Dementia doesn’t just affect the individual—it affects families, caregivers, and the entire support system. That's why this kind of training is so important. It equips people with the tools they need to not only respond effectively, but to do so with empathy, patience, and dignity. Dementia Dialogues® does more than deliver facts; it transforms the way we communicate and connect.
Over the course of two days, participants explored five vital modules:
Module 1: The Basic Facts – Understanding Alzheimer’s and related dementias
Module 2: Keep the Dialogue Going – Effective communication techniques
Module 3: It’s a Different World – How environment impacts independence
Module 4: It’s Nothing Personal – Addressing challenging behaviors with empathy
Module 5: Now What Do We Do? – Creative, collaborative problem-solving
This workshop was not just a training—it was a reminder of how powerful it can be when a community comes together to better serve its most vulnerable members. We are so thankful for the facilitators who led the course with expertise and compassion, and for the attendees who showed up eager to learn and grow.
If your community is interested in hosting this training, we’d love to hear from you.
