Lori - Support Specialist

I have been working in health care for 49 years. I started as a housekeeper at 15 in a nursing home while in high school. At 16 I became an aide and eventually received my CNA license. I have worked both in nursing homes and hospitals and worked while attending classes at college. My Home Health career started in 1988 for as an administrative assistant in another state until moving back to South Dakota 4 years later. I worked for Avera for 28+ years as a scheduling coordinator/administrative assistant and then later a support specialist. I did all the scheduling for the aides/nurses, payroll, mileage, billing and various other office duties. I began working at Kore Cares, December of 2022 as their support specialist also after they partnered with Avera@Home, doing for the most part the same as when I worked at Avera.

Home care has come a long way since I first started working in this field. There have been many changes along the way as home care has expanded to a large industry helping people in their homes. I think it is very important for people to be able to stay in their homes for as long as possible, because that is where we feel the most comfortable, and stay as independent as we can. I believe in giving people the best care we can give them!
